Count down to Christmas has begun
By An X-Xmas keeper

Today was Tuesday 1st December; the first day of the Christmas season officially begins!  The countdown is on.  So much to do and now so little time, these next 24 days just seem to disappear on me.  Especially as you watch those chocolates disappear from the event calendar you know the day is drawing near.  It is funny how this season is so mixed with warm and happy feeling, and also the sad and worried feelings.  I was writing my “to do” list, so much is still to do:-

  1. Buy tree and put it up,
  2. Find the manger scene and other decorations
  3. Buy a new angel or star for the top of the tree
  4. Make sure all the Christmas cards are written and sent (next year I will do the newsletter to everyone).  Need to also do the ecards later on.
  5. Make sure all the presents are bought, - family, friends, people at work, friends at church, bible study group, spare presents incase someone gives me something
  6. Food shopping for Christmas
  7. Food to have in the house for visitors
  8. Get clothes for the Christmas parties, work, church, bible study, friends, and family and of course Christmas day.
  9. Buy wrapping paper, ribbons, candy canes, chocolates etc
  10. Help preparing for Church Christmas Carols
  11. All the forgotten things
  12. Find the money tree somewhere……….

When did Christmas get so busy and cost so much money.   One of my friends at work only paid off last Christmas a month ago and now she is starting all over again.   At work we cannot even say Christmas anymore it is Xmas day.  Those people who want to be political correct are trying to take Jesus out of Christmas, the fact that he was born on this day, and that it is the entire reason why we have this holiday.  They do not care about it.  They want to remove the mangers from malls and change the name, and in some places when you sing Christmas Carols, (or those places it is Xmas Carols,) you cannot sing songs about Jesus, the manger or anything that happened that night.  It is ridiculous.  All they want is Santa and Rudolf, and his red nose.  I like those songs too.  We even have a Santa that comes to kid’s church, but it just when they try to replace him for Jesus it gets me upset.  The churches have been trying to protest about going to Xmas and them not allowing the manger to go up this year in the mall.  So they decided to have the manger on one side and Santa on the other side. That way people get to enjoy both.

Hmmmm I wonder what it really was like back then.   On that night, Mary and Joseph were trying to find somewhere to sleep.  You sort of get the idea from the kid’s story of this couple walking around with their donkey, all nice and beautiful, but I guess they may also have been a bit stressed.  I mean she was about to have a baby, and then it is wintertime in Israel in December, so I guess it was also cold.  I wonder if it was even raining or even snowing.  Hey maybe they had a white Christmas.  Then they finally find somewhere to have the baby, and they would have had all the visitors coming with the gifts; so I guess that would have made up for it.  I wonder if when they called him Jesus, or when they saw him, if they really knew what they were holding ……   I am sure that it was an amazing experience.  One of those goose bump moments.  Huh,  someone is at the door hold that thought diary!!

Wow, that was a strange visitor they gave me a flyer “Christmas is not Jesus birthday”.  I gave it back to him and said sorry I do not want this trash.  I am a Christian and this is the time of my Savior Jesus Christ’s birthday.  It is people like you who are trying to ruin the real meaning of Christmas by taking Jesus out of it.  But then he said to me that he was also a believer, and that he also goes to church, but that there were some things that we did not know about that night.   It was a surprise to me so I took the flyer to have a look.  It talked about Mary and Joseph and Bethlehem which is in Israel and how they were Jewish.  It said that the name that they really gave to Jesus was Yeshua, which means salvation, and that the name Jesus did not come in for many years later.  It also said that the time of his birth was Sukkoth, (Feast of Tabernacles,) which is in September/October.  This is a Jewish holiday and that this Yeshua, who is Jesus, is connected to all the Jewish holidays; as he came to fulfill them so that the Jewish people, and the world, would see the Messiah.  That all the Jewish Holidays speak about him, just like Easter is not the correct name or timing, but it is Passover and in fact what has really happened is that the Church, and the World has taken Yeshua, and the Jewish people, and history out of the bible.

I mean this is mind blowing …….. Jesus – vs. – Yeshua, Christmas –vs. – Sukkoth, which one is right.  What is the real meaning of Christmas ………. I think I need to keep reading his flyer.

All I can say is I will never look at this time of year again the same way.  It is too much to write here but I believe it is true.  Around 325AD there was a separation that happened between the true believers in the Messiah and the Jewish Roots, and by the people who were also believers but were mixed with pagan religions.  The origins of Christmas are Pagan and that is not the time of His birth, but it was at the time of Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkoth).  He had to be born then to fulfill the prophesy in the bible.  Otherwise the bible is full of lies and loop holes.  Also, can you imagine those Shepherd’s with their sheep, and the Wise men being out in the field in the middle of winter?   About his name, I like it, “Yeshua”.  It is special even the fact it is Hebrew makes it seems more connected to the bible because he is a Jew.   I mean, I would not want someone to change my name, especially to make my name sound like another god. All this giving of presents etc is out of control. I have already spent over $1000 and I am only half way done.  The time of a birth is about giving gifts to the child and the parents, and about celebration the birth, not about giving gifts to everyone and seeing who gives better gifts, or getting what we want.

So where does that leave me now …… I have 3 weeks left to Christmas I can’t just tell everyone I am not celebrating it……….. hmmmmmm

I know what I am going to do, I will buy some gifts for the poor and reach out to the lost and lonely, then I am going to send a gift to Israel and support someone over there saying thank you for giving us the Bible and the Messiah.  Then in my Christmas cards, I am going to tell everyone what I have learned. Maybe I can even put in this flyer.  Then I can talk to my pastor and ask him about including the Jewish feasts and the name Yeshua-that is it! It is easy!  No one should get offended if I tellthem the truth should they????  We have been so busy with doing our own celebrations and looking at those people who are trying to make it Xmas, and remove Jesus, that we did not even realize that we had already removed him a long time ago

Well this Christmas is going to be great I cannot wait to tell my friends…

“I will bless those who bless you, curse those who curse you and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed” Genesis 12:3

Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren (the Jews), you did it to Me. Matthew 25:40b
