Justice or Judgment

Torah Portion TOLDOT – Beresheet (Genesis) 25:19-28:9

In Preparation for Hanukkah, The Feast of Dedication

Justice, justice you must pursue, so that you may live and possess the land that Adonai your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 16:20 TLV

Shabbat Shalom, dearly beloveds!

What incurs the judgment of YHVH in both individuals and nations?
In one word it’s INJUSTICE.

INJUSTICE from the Merriam Webster Dictionary:

INJUSTICE, INJURY, WRONG, and GRIEVANCE mean “an act that inflicts undeserved hurt.”

  1. INJUSTICE applies to any act that involves unfairness to another or violation of one’s rights.
  2. The injustices suffered by the lower classes INJURY applies, in law, specifically to an injustice for which one may sue to obtain compensation.
  3. Libel constitutes a legal injury WRONG, and also applies in law to any act punishable according to the criminal code; it may apply more generally to any flagrant injustice.
  4. Determined to right society’s wrongs, GRIEVANCE applies to a circumstance or condition that constitutes an injustice to the sufferer and gives just ground for complaint.

We will review together in this series of Shabbat Letters the most grievous sins of injustice in the eyes of YHVH.

  2. LYING

This is an injustice toward the One who created us and gave us the earth to enjoy. The Creator of the Universe, the God of Israel is a Jealous God. He created us for His glory, and He is the only one to be worshipped. He tolerates no other gods. It is this issue that removed Adam, male and female, from the Garden of Eden. They followed the instructions of satan in the snake, rather than obedience and honor to Elohim, the God who created them. Following any other god but Him incurs in terrible curses and judgment on individuals, families and even nations. All other injustices are an outcome of our separation from the Creator because of idolatry. This separation is the most painful of all grievances. Today many people worship creation rather than the Creator and they worship themselves. That is a form of idolatry and it is causing most of the troubles in our society through New Age, Religion in various forms, Humanistic Psychology and Modern Medicine that has no place for YHVH, the Creator or devoids Him of any honor and power to personally intervene in the affairs of men.

You shall not have other gods beside Me. ‘Do not make for yourself a graven image—no image of what is in the heavens above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. Do not bow down to them or worship them. For I, YHVH your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My mitzvot (Commandments). Deuteronomy 5:7-10 TLV

New Age

New Age worships the creation instead of the Creator; this includes paganism, ancestral worship, Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism, Yogism, spiritism, occultism, wicca, martial arts, LGBTQ movement and more. Just like idolatry, this is an affront to the Creator, and it causes mental hurt to those who follow its various forms, including demonic oppression and possession.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools. They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an image in the form of mortal man and birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things. Therefore God gave them over in the evil desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonor their bodies with one another. They traded the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to shameful passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for what is against nature. Likewise the men abandoned natural relations with women and were burning with passion toward one another—men committing shameful acts with other men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. Romans 1:24-27 TLV

The Three Monotheistic Religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam claim to worship the true God and Creator except they have innumerable denominations that contradict each other as all claim to know Him and to be the owners of the Truth. Each one of them has magnified some aspect of who He is and has a certain fear of God but denies His Power and absolute standards. They are rooted in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil rather than in the intimate and personal knowledge of the Creator. They try to please Him according to their interpretation and traditions but not necessarily according to His ways and character. These religions in one form or another have been the reason behind all wars, slave trade and untold crimes against humanity, especially the two conquering religions of Christianity and Islam have much blood in their hands. Many mix their religious belief with New Age, the most common being Yoga and Meditation, or with pagan roots, reminiscent from Babylonian worship (Judaism and Christianity), or death (Islam) and ancestral worship (Judaism and Islam), or witchcraft and Kabbala (Judaism and Islam), or sun worship (Christianity with its various pagan feasts) and humanism (Christianity and Judaism). Even the cleanest of them have mixtures with other gods. Today the interfaith movement is seeking to unite all religions to form a new World Order and, in that sense, rebuild the Tower of Babel that Elohim interrupted when He confused their languages. (Genesis 11)

Then YHVH Elohim took the man and gave him rest in the Garden of Eden in order to cultivate and watch over it. Then YHVH Elohim commanded the man saying, “From all the trees of the garden you are most welcome to eat. But of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil you must not eat. For when you eat from it, you most assuredly will die! Genesis 2:15-17 TLV

Humanism is a philosophy that manifests through various schools of thought and of psychology that puts man in the center of the universe. Human beings are their own gods and creators. They can choose to be atheists, agnostics or to believe in an external Creator and even be religious but ultimately all their destiny and fate lies within themselves. Humans can create a god of their liking, but they do not answer to a Higher Power as humans according to Humanistic thinking are the highest power in the universe.

But understand this, that in the last days hard times will come— for people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, hardhearted, unforgiving, backbiting, without self-control, brutal, hating what is good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to an outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people! 2 Timothy 3:1-5 TLV

Modern Medicine

This is the most sophisticated type of idolatry as it combines all of the above and it is the most acceptable type by all and especially by the most religious. The Doctor of today has usurped the place of the pastor, priest or Rabbi and is the uncontested “guru” of the individual and the family. Medications have replaced prayer to an unseen God that answers prayer and replaced faith in His Word of instruction and power that both guides us on how to live and also heals us of our diseases. Many people today have a myriad of both mental and physical complications due to the meds they take and their trust in the medical system rather than in the Creator and His Word. There is nothing wrong with using medicine in measure and as directed by the Holy Spirit, however most people today seek doctors and medications, paying untold amounts of money as a replacement to faith in God and His power to heal. This brings a curse.

Now in the thirty-nineth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet. His illness was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek YHVH but physicians. 2 Chronicles 16:12 TLV

And there was a woman with a blood flow for twelve years, who had suffered much under many doctors. She had spent all that she had without benefit; instead, she grew worse. When she heard about Yeshua, she came through the crowd from behind and touched His garment. For she kept saying, “If I touch even His clothes, I shall be healed.” Right away the blood flow stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed from her disease. Mark 5:25-29 TLV

All of these types of idolatry sometimes oppose each other, and some types mix with each other and mutate, however, the principles are clear.

Repentance from idolatry will lead us to leave behind some family and even religious traditions. It will require of us to put all “sacred cows” on the altar. These could be beliefs that we thought to be right, but they do not pan out with Scripture or pagan celebrations that are dressed in religious garbs, but they deny the Truth of Yah’s Kingdom.

And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors Me with their lips but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Having left behind the commandment of God, you hold on to the tradition of men.” Mark 7:6-8 TLV

It will demand from us to trust The Almighty above all and it will bring healing in soul and body!

Trust in YHVH with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear YHVH and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8 TLV

When Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah came on the scene of Israel, all of these types of idolatries were in existence as they are as old as the devil himself. Today in our modern-day society they have had many mutations but with the same evil foundations as mentioned in the Holy Scriptures. It is for this reason that Yeshua that His Kingdom is not of this world and that we should be in the world but not of the world.

Yeshua answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I wouldn’t be handed over to the Judean leaders. But as it is, My kingdom is not from here.” John 18:36 TLV

That is the reason why He claimed to be the Way, Truth and Life and not any religious system which is a type of idolatry. YHVH chose a Jew to show The God of Israel to the world! He said that when we see Him, we see the Father, our Creator. He made it possible with His atoning death for the walls of separation due to sin and idolatry to be broken so we could have a personal relationship with our Creator and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. A Jewish Messiah defeated all sin and idolatry and in Him we can walk in pure worship to the ONE that deserves all our worship. And YES! This is the way to live happily ever after. Though for the time being all those who seek to live godly in this Jewish Messiah and Savior will suffer some sort of persecution alongside with blessings for obedience; however, we have an eternity of glory before us.

“Amen, I tell you,” Yeshua replied, “there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for My sake and for the sake of the Good News, who will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and property, along with persecutions; and in the olam ha-ba (world to come), eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” Mark 10:29-31 TLV

Pray with me

Yes, Yeshua Jewish Messiah, come into my life, save me, deliver me, cleanse me and fill me with Your spirit and Power. Help me to worship The Father in Heaven in spirit and truth. I renounce all idolatry in any form and manner in my life and I return a pure devotion to my Creator, YHVH the God of Israel. Amen.

SHMITA YEAR 2021 / 5782

“But in the seventh year there is to be a Shabbat rest for the land—a Shabbat to ADONAI. You are not to sow your field or prune your vineyard.” Leviticus 25:4 TLV

According to scripture, the Jewish calendar moves in seven-year cycles from creation. The seventh year in the cycle is known as the sabbatical year or “Shmita.” The sabbatical year is one of rest, forgiveness, and reflection. In Israel farms must go uncultivated. Personal debts are forgiven, slaves go free and commitments to faith are renewed.
