Torah Portion SUKKOT I – Leviticus 22:26-23:44; Numbers 29:12-16

Special Feast of Sukkot Edition

And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your towns. Deuteronomy 16:14

Shabbat shalom dearly beloved:

The Season or MOED of Sukkot-Tabernacles is a Season of great joy. In fact we are commanded to REJOICE. There is something powerful about obeying a simple command like REJOICE. Most people equate the Torah instructions of our Father in Heaven as if they are cumbersome, impossible to do commandments. So many are even afraid of the word “Law” or “Commandment” but the word is really TORAH. Torah means=Instructions or paraphrased=Instructions in Righteousness for your own good. In fact this commandment to REJOICE is all over the Holy Scriptures!

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4

What happens when we simply obey a commandment like REJOICE IN YOUR FEAST? And let’s say that your life is very difficult at the moment and full of challenges and you find absolutely no reason to rejoice. In fact your heart is heavy, you may be worried or highly concerned, maybe grieved, sad, depressed, disappointed or all of the above. Maybe moneys are not coming your way lately or you are late on your rent. Maybe a family member is sick or your best friend betrayed you and your children are hooked on drugs. Maybe even worse, you are going through a divorce and bankruptcy at the same time. How about even much worse, you God forbid have been diagnosed with a terminal disease and the doctors said there is no hope. I could go on and on but the truth is that LIFE happens to all of us! If you don’t believe me go ahead and order my book from “Sickology to a Healthy Logic” and my Testimony Book “Yes” through our website at and you will see a glimpse of what I have gone through!

2Yeshua is revealed in all of the Holy Feasts-Moadim and especially in Sukkot that commemorate temporary shelters or dwellings/booths in the desert prior to us Israelites possessing the Promised Land, the Land of Israel. This is to remind us that HE is our dwelling place and everything else is TEMPORARY and in His salvation- His YESHUA we Rejoice Greatly!

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation (Yeshua!), Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9

None of us is immune to the effects of a Fallen World were sin and sickness is rampart. We are all born into the curse not the blessing, yes even the wealthiest among us! There is no person on earth that can claim that they were born to a completely blessed life without sin, sickness, challenges and setbacks! Even when Messiah was born He had to learn obedience by the things that He suffered! So suffering is part of life and we need to put up with it and even embrace it at times when it seems to linger and not go away.

Yet in the midst of this life in this fallen world, YHVH gives us a COMMAND and He says REJOICE! He did not say to rejoice in your circumstances but3 rather to REJOICE IN YOUR FEAST!

And you shall rejoice in your feast. Deuteronomy 16:14

Wait a moment Lord, I thought that this was YOUR Feast!

YHVH spoke again to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘YHVH’s appointed times which you shall proclaim as holy convocations—My appointed times are these. Leviticus 23:1-2

But in this case He says this is OUR Feast, YOUR Feast and He commands us to REJOICE GREATLY! It literally means: “Make My Feasts YOUR Feasts”. Wow! What a Treasure! He is actually saying: I have given you My Moadim, Divine Seasons and Feasts for you to REJOICE in them, for you to have fun in a Godly way, to eat and drink nice foods, to sing and to dance unto Me and to be refreshed! I have given YOU My Special Timings as a Sweet Date with Me in order to REFRESH YOU and to encourage you to go on in the Battle of Faith in this life! What a Heavenly Provision! And yet so many are missing this Provision altogether by missing His Feasts and Divine Timings and then they complain that life is hard and that they are exhausted!

It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days YHVH made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed. Exodus 31:17

4If The Almighty God of Israel was refreshed on the Shabbat which is the FIRST of His Feasts and Moadim, don’t you think that we need refreshing also when we work, work, work and worry six days a week?

Do you know what I think? I believe that many believers are exhausted and depressed because they do not heed to the Commandment to REJOICE GREATLY in His Feasts! I actually believe that if you would start from TODAY to separate His Shabbats (Friday eve to Saturday eve) and His Feasts and do what He says, namely REST, WORSHIP, DELIGHT and REJOICE, your life would change! In fact I believe that this act of obedience would release so much grace, finances, joy and blessings that many of the breakthroughs that you have been waiting for so long will begin to happen! There are enough Promises in His Word about this to support my claim here! The Word of Yah (God) even tells us that we will defeat our enemies when we celebrate His Moadim-Feasts and that He will enlarge our borders!!

For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders, and no man shall covet your land when you go up three times a year to appear before the Lord your God. Exodus 34:24

In fact our obedience will cause YHVH to REJOICE over us and BLESS US!

And you shall again obey YHVH, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. Then YHVH your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for YHVH will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;  if you obey YHVH your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law if you turn to YHVH your God with all your heart and soul. Deuteronomy 30:8-10

And it is not complicated to celebrate His Feasts! Here are a few simple steps:

  2. Highlight Shabbat and the Biblical Feasts
  3. Separate that time as holy
  4. Rest
  5. Worship and pray
  6. Rejoice, sing, dance, celebrate!
  7. Give your First Fruits offering to Yah through those ministers that mentor you and send an offering to Israel to the Ministry of your choice.
