Inheriting Other Spheres of Jurisdiction
And Yeshua said to them, “I was watching Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:18-19 TLV
Shabbat Shalom, dearly beloved!
We all have different spheres of jurisdiction. It is both wise and effective to know what our spheres of jurisdiction are. In fact, this knowledge will determine our lives and destiny. Yeshua said to His Jewish disciples that Satan fell from his place of authority in heaven due to rebellion, and He has given us authority over him and his works and over all his power. That is a very vast realm!
Does that mean that I, you, or any individual alone has power over all the works of Satan? Of course not! Each of us must be faithful to implement jurisdiction over the spheres, callings, ministries, and assignments entrusted to us by God Most High.
But in the above scripture, we can see three things:
- Satan fell as lightning from Heaven, thus losing his God-given place of jurisdiction in the 3rd heaven.
- Yeshua, as an obedient man, inherited all of Lucifer’s authority before he was expelled from Heaven.
- Yeshua bestows upon his faithful disciples (starting with His Jewish disciples) the sphere of jurisdiction that was given to Satan when he was under submission to the Creator.
The word JURISDICTION means authority and control.
Jurisdiction refers to the official power to make legal decisions and judgements and the extent of that power.
“Amen, I tell you, whatever you forbid on earth (within your sphere of jurisdiction) will have been forbidden in heaven, and what you permit on earth (within your sphere) will have been permitted in heaven.” Matthew 18:18 TLV
We must fully understand that Yeshua took off His Divinity and walked the earth as a Human. As a human, He overpowered Satan by submitting to the Father.
Adam was only given authority over the earth, but the Last Adam, by His obedience and faithfulness, gains authority over the heavens. The First Adam did not have authority over demons or fallen angels, but the Last Adam obtained that sphere of jurisdiction as a Human, as the Son of Man, not as a God. Therefore, He is our example of what is possible for us, humans, who are submitted to Him as our High Priest and King!
His humanity is described in detail in the following scriptures:
In the days of His life on earth, Yeshua offered up both prayers and pleas, with loud crying and tears, to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Though He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. And once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obeyed Him—called by God Kohen Gadol according to the order of Melechizedek. Hebrews 5:7–10 TLV
Yeshua was not exalted to the higher sphere of jurisdiction because He was the Son of God but because He is the Son of Man, and He overcame and obeyed as a HUMAN!
Have this attitude in yourselves, which also was in Messiah Yeshua, Who, though existing in the form of God, did not consider being equal to God a thing to be grasped. But He emptied Himself—taking on the form of a slave, becoming the likeness of men, and being found in appearance as a man. He humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue profess that Yeshua the Messiah is Lord—to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5–11 TLV
What causes us to inherit more spheres of jurisdiction that were not initially assigned to us?
Two things:
- The unfaithfulness of someone who, like Satan, rebels against Yah and forfeits his authority.
- The faithfulness of someone to obey Yah even in the small things, just like Yeshua did.
“One who is faithful in the smallest matters is also faithful in much, and the one who is unjust in the smallest matters will likewise be unjust in much.” Luke 16:10 TLV
This is best explained through the parable of the talents (which is money). The master gave two talents of money to one servant and five to another. Each one of them was faithful to invest wisely, and they doubled it. They were given a sphere of jurisdiction: to invest the talents entrusted to them. They did so and were commended for it, plus a further promise was given to them: I will entrust you with much. You will inherit other spheres of jurisdiction! Their authority and influence would grow, and this would bring them joy!
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful with a little, so I’ll put you in charge of a lot. Enter into your master’s joy!’ Matthew 25:23 TLV
We can see in the same parable how this principle of inheriting the spheres of jurisdiction of others who are unfaithful.
“Then the one who had received the one talent also came up and said, ‘Master, I knew that you were a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. So I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.” Matthew 25:24–25 TLV
Fear is one of the main reasons why some people are unfaithful. They prefer to preserve their lives rather than risk them for the Master’s sake. Their “safe play” becomes very dangerous as they end up losing all that was entrusted to them—all their sphere of authority!
But his master responded, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow and gather where I scattered no seed. Then you should have brought my money to the brokers, and when I came, I would have received it back with interest. Therefore, take the talent away from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.” Matthew 25:26–28 TLV
It would have been better for this man to have invested the money wrongly and lost it than to not take the risk at all! I would have preferred to come before the Master and say, “I tried my best, but I blew it; please forgive me,” than to say, “I was afraid, so I didn’t even try.”
The ones that end up inheriting other people’s talents, wealth, gifts, callings, and spheres of jurisdiction are the ones that have been the most faithful with their own. And have tried their best!
Have you lost what you were given due to fear, disobedience, ignorance, foolishness, or unfaithfulness, or maybe you were robbed or usurped and suffered setbacks? I have good news for you! YHVH is the God of second chances. Just like He is giving a Second Chance to Israel to possess the Land and to give Him glory before all the nations.
“For thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot, “Just as I determined to harm you when your fathers provoked Me to anger,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot, ‘and I did not relent, so I have again determined in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Fear not!” Zechariah 8:14–15 TLV
So, He can give you a second chance, just like Jonah the prophet, if you repent, surrender to His call all the way, and keep trying and trusting. You may even end like Job with double of all that you had before your misfortune!
So Adonai restored what Job had lost after he prayed for his friends, and Adonai doubled everything that Job had before. Job 42:10 TLV
Remember that Yeshua learned obedience through the things he suffered, and so do we.
“Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I have fallen, I will arise. Though I sit in darkness, Adonai is my light.” Micah 7:8 TLV
There is only one condition for this to happen: Do not stay fallen, but repent, return to Yah, and submit to His call. Become faithful all the way, even in the smallest things, and you may end up inheriting more spheres of jurisdiction than you were initially given!
Yah is looking for faithful ones to bestow upon them more authority.
The eyes of Adonai range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are wholly His. You have acted foolishly in this matter. Indeed, from now on, you will have wars. 2 Chronicles 16:9 TLV
He said this to King Asa of Judah, who had put his trust in Ben Hadad, the king of Assyria, instead of YHVH. No matter how difficult it is, even when you have fallen, choose to put your trust in Yah, and He will be strong on your behalf! King David fell, and yet when he repented, he was entrusted with an everlasting throne.
“So your house and your kingship will be secure forever before you; your throne will be established forever.” 2 Samuel 7:16 TLV
We all make mistakes and miss turns, but do not stay in that place of defeat; get up! Be faithful and inherit spheres of jurisdiction forfeited by others who have not responded to His Call. The well-being of this world depends on it.
And Yeshua came up to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in My name and teaching them to observe all I have commanded you. And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18–20 STB
