Torah Portion SHOFTIM – Devarim (Deutoronomy) 16:18-21:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:9 TLV
Shabbat shalom, dearly beloveds!
This whole planet is boiling with strife, anger, rage, jealousy, violence, immorality, political upheaval, and plagues. Strife is in the air, just as COVID-19 is in the air. You do not have to dance to the tune of this strife or these plagues or be in fear of them: you can be different!
“Where do quarrels and conflicts among you come from? Don’t they come from this, namely your passions that battle within your body parts? You crave and have not. You murder and you envy, yet you cannot get it. You fight and you wage war. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives so you may spend it on your passions. You adulteresses! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” Jacob (James) 4:1-4 TLV
Being friends with the world, with its lusts, greed, immorality, idolatry and selfish ambition, makes you an enemy of God. The reason for the quantity of strife on this Planet is because it’s on a head-on collision course with the Creator of the Universe!
“For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Ruach is life and shalom. For the mindset of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it does not submit itself to the law of God—for it cannot. So those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:6-8 TLV
I have seldom written anything about being a “peacemaker” because this subject is one the most misunderstood in the Church. Most people confuse being a peacemaker with compromising our morals and principles and “blending in” with the spirit of the times. The kind of peacemaking that has been espoused by many is nothing but simply political correctness. I assure you that the Jewish Messiah Yeshua did not mean that when He said, “blessed are the peacemakers”. In fact, He had a fit of Holy Indignation and, along with a strong rope, He overturned the tables of the money changers that had turned the Temple into a den of thieves. He also talked of repentance, judgment and divine punishment quite often.
“His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He shall clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn; but the chaff He shall burn up with inextinguishable fire.” Matthew 3:12 TLV
So what did He mean when He said, “blessed are the peacemakers?”
I believe He expressly meant those of us that help People make Shalom with God. Shalom is not only peace, it means wholeness and completeness. So it is those of us that lead people to Teshuva (repentance) so their sins can be forgiven, and so they can have a wholesome relationship with YHVH – we are blessed Peace Makers or Shalom Makers.
“Strap up your feet in readiness with the Good News of shalom.” Ephesians 6:15 TLV
The strife on this planet will not cease until the humans on it reconcile with their maker. Those of us who have reconciled with Him through the Blood Sacrifice of Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, have experienced a change of heart. Together with that change of heart comes an ability to forgive and an inner shalom that passes all understanding. His Presence within us causes us to refrain from selfish ambition, jealousy, rebellion, greed, immorality – all of which is causing this planet to boil.
“Shalom I leave you, My shalom I give to you; but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 TLV
The only remedy is making Shalom with our Creator, one person at a time, one family at a time, one day at a time. Come down from the merry-go-round of strife on this Planet and become a Peace Maker, a Shalom Maker today.
Pray with Me
My beloved Creator and Father, I make peace and shalom with you today through the Blood sacrifice of your Son, the Jewish Messiah Yeshua. I ask Your forgiveness and Divine Pardon for all sins, crimes and strife in my life. I receive Your forgiveness and Your Holy Spirit presence acquired for me by Yeshua, who took the punishment that I deserved upon Himself. I ask you to give me a New Heart and New Spirit, removing all selfish ambition, greed, immorality, idolatry, bitterness, grief and rage from my life. I surrender to You, Yeshua, as my Lord and Master and I become a Shalom Maker that leads others to reconcile and make Shalom with You. Amen.

UPDATE: Sukkot Israel Tour
We are gathering a group of people, in case Israel opens for some of your countries, who will come to do a Feast Prayer Mission in September or October 2020.
We will not know until the last moment if this will be possible, due to government restrictions. Still, if it is possible, we are collecting a list of interested people to fill out a registration form without sending your payment.
Once the Israeli government gives the OK for the Prayer-Quarantine Feast-Mission, you will be required to send your payment in full.
We do not know what that payment will be yet; it may be less than we published, or a bit more – we do not know.
We encourage you to send in your registration forms so we can contact you once it is clear.
