Torah Portion VAYISHLACH – B’Reisheet (Genesis) 32:4(3)-36:43
But He replied, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Mathew 4:4TLV
The Southern Bread Riots in America
On April 2, 1863, in the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia, about 5,000 people, mostly poor women, broke into shops and began seizing food, clothing, shoes, and even jewelry before the Militia arrived to restore order. Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth, of items were stolen. No one died, and few were injured. The riot was organized and instigated by Mary Jackson, a huckster and the mother of a soldier.
President Jefferson Davis pleaded with the women and even threw them money from his pockets, asking them to disperse, saying, “You say you are hungry and have no money; here, this is all I have”. The mayor read the Riot Act; the governor called out the militia, and restored order. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_bread_riots_ )
Shabbat shalom dearly beloved!
Nothing has had more effect on humanity than the right or wrong food and the lack or abundance of it. From the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden to the Southern Bread Riots in America, food, in Hebrew LECHEM translated as BREAD, is the determining factor for how humanity will go. The word for war in Hebrew is MILCHAMA derived from the word LECHEM.
Then He said, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten from the Tree from which I commanded you not to eat?” Genesis 3:11
For many years secular humanists have been selling mankind the lie that “we have too many people on the planet.” So, they say, there are too many mouths to feed and not enough food-lechem-bread to go around. Looking at human beings as “mouths to feed” is demoting Adam, the crown of Elohim’s Creation, to worse than an animal. People are not “mouths to feed”, we are the solution to all the problems of the planet. We were created to nurture and to rule this world with the abilities of the Creator of Life! We are made in His image and likeness. We have His attributes, the ability to think creatively and to implement solutions to all problems. Decreasing the world population through birth prevention or MURDER through abortions, and by killing each other, is not the solution but the dissolution of the planet.
God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them. God blessed them and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the land, and conquer it. Rule over the fish of the sea, the flying creatures of the sky, and over every animal that crawls on the land.” Genesis1:27,28
Bread or Faith?
Yeshua clearly said in His Word that food or BREAD is not the solution. The solution is Faith and Trust in the Creator who created humans, animals and the food-bread-lechem to go with this planet. When we put BREAD in the Center then there is never enough to feed all “the mouths” of the planet. This leads to all kinds of doom and gloom predictions which begins to rule the minds of otherwise intelligent beings! But when we put the Creator in the Center, there is more than enough BREAD for everyone. He creates something from what we deem insignificant and there are even leftovers!
When it became evening, the disciples came to Him, saying, “This place is isolated, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away so they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” But Yeshua said to them, “They don’t need to leave—you give them something to eat.” “We have nothing here except five loaves and two fish,” they said to Him. “Bring them here to Me,” He said. Matthew 14:15-18
You see, when Yeshua told His Jewish Disciples to feed the multitudes, the disciples looked at the bread instead of looking at the Bread of Life who created all good things for us to enjoy, He is the Author of all provision. Yeshua mentioned that putting the bread, the food, the money, the provision in the center of life came from hardened hearts of unbelief. (Matthew 16:6-12)
But knowing this, Yeshua said, “O you of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? You still don’t get it? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets of leftovers you gathered? Matthew 16:8
Every time someone says to me, “I cannot do that because I do not have the money”, I know that I am in front of a hardened heart of unbelief. There is not even a minute part of His will that we cannot do regardless of our bread or money situation, as long as we make Him the Center and He is the one leading us.
Ordering the crowd to recline on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish; and looking up to heaven, He offered the bracha (blessing). After breaking the loaves, He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of broken pieces left over. Now those eating were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Matthew 14:19-21 TLV
Who is at the center?
It is because bread is at the center that people remain in a vicious circle of lack and poverty, remain frustrated and ineffective to fulfill the plan of Yah (God) for their lives. This “bread worship” causes people to be depressed, hopeless, mean and stingy. People feel like victims of their “poor condition” and they refuse to GIVE. When you refuse to be rich with God, then you stop sowing, and when you stop sowing you stop reaping and stay poor.
YHVH is my shepherd and I will not want (lack any bread, food and provision for any good thing). Psalm 23:1
It is as simple as that! In fact, what caused the breakthrough that enabled Yeshua to feed 5000 men plus women and children, (altogether about 20,000), was not only His Power and ability, it was the Bread Factor. The little boy who donated the 5 loaves and the 2 fishes was the catalyst for the feeding miracle!
Had he not donated all the food that he had, despite how insignificant it seemed in front of such a great need, the miracle would have not happened! Elohim always needs a Contact Point for miracles to happen. The little that you have may seem insignificant to you, but it is the KEY for the Miracle!
YHVH’s Power makes contact and creates the momentum through the Faith of someone who has something to give; through someone who is willing to take the little bread they have and feed the multitudes, physically or spiritually, with the help of Yeshua!
Now the One who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in everything for all generosity, which through us brings about thanksgiving to God. 12 For this service of giving is not only supplying the needs of the kedoshim (holy ones), but is also overflowing with many thanksgivings to God. 2 Corinthians 9:10-12
Who do we give to first?
The first of all the firstfruits of everything and every offering of every kind from all your offerings will belong to the kohanim (Priests, Preachers, Servants of Yah). You will also give the kohen the first of your dough, to make a blessing to rest on your house. Ezekiel 44:30
You can see the exact same principle with the widow who was about to eat the last piece of bread with her son during the time of drought in Israel and then die. But Elijah the Prophet proposed a different approach. He proposed the First Fruits Approach (Proverbs 3:10, Ezekiel 44)
So he arose and went to Zarephath. Now when he came to the town gate, to his surprise, a widow was there gathering sticks. So he called her and said, “Please bring a little water in a jar that I may drink.” As she was going to fetch it, he called her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
So she said, “As Adonai your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in the jar, and a little oil in the jug. Now look, I am gathering a couple of sticks, so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die. 1 Kings 17:10-12
Being the Prophet of Yah, the Minister representing the Holy One of Israel, he told her to give him bread FIRST. You see when we give to Yah FIRST, when we support His causes FIRST, when we take care of His ministers and servants FIRST, He is able to release an abundance of BREAD and Provision that you have never experienced before.
Elijah said to her, “Fear not! Go and do as you said, but first make me a little cake from what you have there. Bring it out to me and afterwards, make some for you and for your son. For thus says Adonai God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be exhausted nor shall the jug of oil be empty until the day Adonai sends rain on the land.’” 1 Kings 17:13,14
The Bread Wars can cease
But you, Beit-Lechem Ephrathah—least among the clans of Judah—from you will come out to Me One to be ruler in Israel, One whose goings forth are from of old, from days of eternity. Micah 5:1
As I said, in Hebrew the word for BREAD is LECHEM. Yeshua was born in the House of Bread, Beit Lechem, in Judah. He is the Bread of Life and when we eat of Him, we will never lack. The word for WAR, as stated above, in Hebrew is MILCHAMA from the word LECHEM or BREAD because all the wars are about BREAD, FOOD, MONEY, PROVISION. The Bread Factor is at the ROOT of all civil unrest and all wars. It is also at the root of your personal unrest. The Fear of Lack is a spiritual demonic principality that rules over the poor and the rich alike. The poor do not have provisions and have experienced hunger, so fear, instead of aggressive faith and trust in the Creator, leads them. Many who are rich continue hoarding so they will not lack in latter years, and meanwhile, they become stingy with the Creator because of a fear of lack.
One gives freely, yet gains even more. Another withholds unjustly, and comes to poverty. Proverbs 11:24
The Creator of Bread is the one who sent us the Bread of Life, His Son, the Jewish Messiah for FREE. If we put the Creator in the center, then all the wars will cease and so will the civil unrest. Then, and only then, will we experience abundance of bread and prosperity with no limitations!
Have you ever considered that Yeshua is the Torah (the Word) made Flesh and that the Torah coupled with the Ruach, the Holy Spirit, is the Bread of Life? In the Torah we will continually find the instructions of Yah (God) that will lead us to prosperity, if we implement them.
Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

Book of the week:
The Restoration of Holy Giving by Archbishop Dr. Dominiquae Bierman
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
When we return to the Jewish Roots of the Faith and the Apostolic Hebrew Foundations we must also restore Holy Giving. Replacement Theology has affected the Body of Yeshua in many areas and especially in the area of giving. Most people do not know how to give, who to give to and when to give, thus they never come out of spiritual and/or financial drought. This book will help you come out of spiritual and financial drought at the speed of light!
