Who can touch the Lord

Who Can Touch the Lord?

Who can touch the Lord
Torah Portion BALAK – Bamidbar (Numbers) 22:2-25:9, Haftarah: Mic. 5:6(7)-6:8

“Who touched me?” Yeshua asked. Luke 8:45a

Shabbat shalom, dearly beloved!

As we continue crying out for revival, there is one issue on which revival stands or falls: the question is, “Who really touches the Lord?” So many people claim to want Him, His Presence, His Power, etc. – so why does revival seem so far away sometimes? By revival, I mean that awesome intervention of God that shakes an entire society and transforms it into a Holy Kingdom Society. It can begin with a city, a nation, an organization, a congregation, a family, a group, or even just one man or woman. A few of these examples that come to mind are Cornelius, The King of Nineveh, Hannah, and Queen Esther: they touched Yah to the point that He released His supernatural virtue and favor as He answered their prayers beyond human imagination. But what is the secret of these individuals?

One story illustrates this more than any other story, and it is, of course, the story of the “Woman with the Issue of Blood.” It is one of the stories that has always touched me. One weak, ostracized, helpless woman managed to direct the full attention of the Master, who by then was surrounded by thousands of fans! What did it? What caused Him to release virtue and power for a grandiose miracle that restored this woman in spirit, soul, and body – and is still influencing us to this day?

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” But Yeshua said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Luke 8:45,46

Most people are only crowding and pressing against The Lord, but they are not touching Him. They still have too much self-preservation left; they just want a “touch from Him” and keep living their self-centered lives full of fear of taking risks. This woman had no more self-preservation left, and she did not want or need just a “touch” from Him; she needed the whole bucket!

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares YHVH, “and will bring you back from captivity. Jeremiah 29:13, 14a STB

Who can touch the Lord

Let us think about her and see her for a moment. She was broken and broke, a derelict of society since the laws in the Torah do not allow a woman with a flow of blood to socialize (Leviticus 15:19, 20). She may have been married, but her husband could not touch her. It may be that she lost her husband altogether, since a man normally does not wait that long; he may have divorced her on legal grounds and found another woman. People were weary of her and gave her no more attention since she had been sick for so long, and she did not seem to get well. In fact, people by then rejected her because they were sure she was in some kind of horrible sin, so she carried a stigma as serious as Cain on his forehead.

Everyone knew who she was because they had to be careful not to touch her, otherwise they’d be unclean. With the hemorrhage lasting for 12 years and having no vitamin and mineral supplements, she was dangerously anemic, which meant that she was hopelessly weak and unfit for any work. She must have been so pale that she looked like a ghost. To top it all off, she had spent all her money on doctors that had not helped her a bit (as many today!). So she must have been a well-to-do lady that had now become a welfare case. The only welfare in those days was to be allowed to beg; however, she could not put her hand out because no one could touch her.

Do you get the picture now? How many people are out there with a story like this today? Maybe many, but the question is how many will touch Him and come out of their terrible predicament into wholeness? What was the difference between “crowding Him” and “pressing against Him” to actually touch Him? Desperation mixed with anger and rebellion against her terrible circumstances. In other words, she had had enough of the curse, and she was willing to die in the attempt of breaking free from it!

Nothing was as important as finding a way out, finding freedom. She had absolutely nothing else to lose, nothing of value; she had come to the end of all tactics, strategies, and devices. She had come to the end of herself! Self-preservation was dead.

A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Yeshua, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. Mark 5:24-29

To illustrate this principle of touching the Lord beyond all others that are only “pressing against Him” (Luke 8:45, 46), I am going to give you a piece of my testimony of salvation as written in my book YES! Even though my story is a lot more like Mary Magdalene’s, still that which moved me is very similar to that which moved the woman with the issue of blood. The result of the same desperation through two different stories was the same: we touched the Lord and were made whole!

Who can touch the Lord

Excerpts from Chapters 13 and 14 of YES! by Dominiquae Bierman

As I saw the amazing neglect and devastation in the store, I realized I was looking at a vivid picture of my own life and soul. A wreck! And in only four months! I was waking from an unbelievable nightmare. Was this all real?

Adi had been taken back. I had been betrayed. My store was destroyed. I had sold my other store in the heat of insanity. My reputation had been ruined. It was as though my soul had been snatched from me. I was physically exhausted.

With the last of the willpower I had left, in a determined act, I grabbed all the crayons that I had and scratched on a piece of paper these peculiar words:

“Light, where are you lost? Come to me!”

As I was writing that with fury, one of my spirit guides tried to tie my hands and arms, desperately fighting against my determination.

And all this started while reading the book Dancing in the Light by Shirley MacLaine.

So where was the light lost???

One layer of make-up won’t do, I said to myself. I’ll have to hide all of these sores. What a disgrace!

My skin had broken out in the most terrible blisters as a result of the distress of the last four and a half months. My skin used to be my number one calling card, and now I needed three or four layers of make-up to look halfway decent.

A few days before, I had found myself at a “spiritual” party, which one of my dear friends had invited me to. She was an expert in the cultic practice of bioenergy. Astar was really trying to help me overcome the tragic episode of my last few months. It was “the blind leading the blind,” as she desperately needed assistance also, for her “spiritual forces” were ruining her own life.

I was dancing in a trance, concentrating on bringing my soul back into my body. Astar said, “Do some ‘grounding,’ in order to cause your soul to return.”

I was desperate, as I felt like an empty body with no soul. It was the most nauseating thing I have ever experienced. My soul was literally gone! Someone, or something, had stolen it from me.

All of a sudden, as I was lying on the ground doing the ‘grounding,’ I felt part of my soul had returned from captivity. As I looked up, I saw a man with compassionate dove’s eyes sitting there. He was different from all the rest and was looking right at me.

“I have seen your suffering,” he said, “and I prayed to God for you.”

Was he an angel? Was this man real? He didn’t seem to know anyone there, and he didn’t seem to fit into this place.

Whether he was an angel or a man, someone had heard his prayers!

My tour guide friend who had given me this job was doing all the driving. He caught a glimpse of me joining these Catholics in their worship, and his eyes opened wide. A Jewess partaking of a Catholic Mass? Yet, he did not judge or stop me.

The music and joyous singing had started. “We worship you, Jesus, Savior…” I sang along with them. It was fun, and besides, it made me feel good for the first time in quite a while.

“No! No! No!” I was violently resisting this power that was trying to put me on my knees before the Cross just after we had finished the service.

“Here, honey. Let me help you.” A sweet lady from the group helped me down to my knees. I couldn’t resist this power anymore!

I didn’t want any more spirits. I wanted to be free! But this one was different. It was powerful yet gentle, determined yet forceful. I yielded, surrendering to the strong yet gentle embrace of the Spirit of God. (End of excerpts)

Yes book

I understand the woman with the issue of blood; she did not want her illness anymore, and she was willing to do anything to have a breakthrough. I was willing to do anything to find the Light, and He found me. That desperation is a desperation that is mixed with a total rebellion against the powers of darkness, against the curse, against satan himself. It carries Faith with it, a desperate type of faith that touches Yah (God) and moves Him to action. It can move Him to action on behalf of one person or an entire nation.

The marks of that desperation are no self-preservation, a complete relinquishing of all fear of the unknown and of taking risks, and a willingness to die in the attempt of breaking free! It is a willingness to do whatever it takes to get God’s attention.

The burnt offering also touches and moves Elohim, like the one from King Solomon – 1000 burnt offerings on the altar. He was desperate for YHVH’S attention. He was so young and about to be king. He could not do it alone; He was willing to give whatever and hold nothing back just to touch Yah.

His extravagant, lavish offering released all the favor he needed as a king. Now that is awesome favor!

The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place; Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. In Gibeon YHVH appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, “Ask what you wish me to give you.” 1 Kings 3:4, 5 STB

This offering determined the future of Solomon as king. It released both the wisdom and the riches he needed to succeed!

The woman with the issue of blood had no self-preservation left – I had no self-preservation left. The King of Nineveh, when he believed that Nineveh would be destroyed in 40 days, had no self-preservation left – and even Queen Esther had no self-preservation left. All of these were willing to do anything to touch the Lord and get their prayers answered. They did not care about “what people will say” – they did not worry about “what tomorrow will bring”; they just came to the conclusion that if Yah does not come through, their life is not worth living.

When someone comes to that point in life, whether for their own lives, city, or nation, they will touch the Almighty and virtue will come out. That virtue is called Revival!

Extravagant offerings touch the Father’s heart, especially when given for Israel’s sake. Anyone in any nation who finds themselves standing in the gap for their nation will have to come to the place of connecting with this principle called The Key of Abraham (Gen. 12:3), which releases the blessing or the curse to the nations according to how the nations have behaved with Israel. Whoever will lose all self-preservation (a king, a priest, or an intercessor) and be willing to do whatever is necessary to overturn their nation from the curse to the blessing will be able to do so as they connect with the Key of Abraham principle concerning Israel.

“I will bless those who bless you.” Genesis 12:3

They will not take “no” for an answer, even if all people oppose them. All the strong, muscular Galileans were trying to stop the woman with the issue of blood, but she pushed through. The horrible spirit guides that ruled my life tried to stop me with terror tactics, but I pushed through. Will you push through and touch Him? Let us pray that you do, and pray that Israel also pushes through and is not willing to be ruled by a terror-fearing government and by the United Nations but rather by El Shaddai alone.

Pray that Israel pushes through to touch Him – all the way to victory and revival!
