Torah Portion TERUMAH – Shemot (Exodus) 25:1-27:19 Haftarah: 1 Kings 5:26-6:13
“For just as through the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man, many will be set right forever.” Romans 5:19 TLV
Shabbat shalom, dearly beloved,
It never ceases to amaze me that the only thing Yah needs is ONE obedient person. In this world, if we are successful and influential, we need thousands of likes and followers. We see the numbers in the channels on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and most get enthralled by big numbers. Yet God regards the One, and He repeats it again and again. He always changes the world’s history with a single committed man and woman. In the same way, Satan, imitating the Creator, also focuses on one.
The Messiah is One.
The Anti-Messiah is also one.
It took one disobedient Adam to bring all mankind down. It took one obedient Adam to purchase redemption for all mankind. Yeshua called Himself the Son of Man; in Hebrew, Ben HaAdam. He came to earth to show us the power of One obedient Adam. He gave us His example to imitate. He took off His divinity and walked as a man. He even suffered as a man to learn obedience.
“In the days of His life on earth, Yeshua offered up both prayers and pleas, with loud crying and tears, to the One able to save Him from death; and He was heard because of His reverence (fear of God). Though He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. And once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” Hebrews 5:7-9 TLV
What a human progression! He prayed, He pleaded with Yah, He cried loudly, He feared God His Father, He suffered, and He learnt obedience. He had to be perfected and refined through suffering, just like any other son or daughter of the Most High God. He received no concessions, shortcuts, or “discounts.” YHVH dealt with Him like with any of His children. And because He feared Yah and kept on honoring Him through his suffering, Yeshua was heard.
“Who, though existing in the form of God, did not consider being equal to God a thing to be grasped. But He emptied Himself— taking on the form of a slave, becoming the likeness of men and being found in appearance as a man. He humbled Himself—becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:6-8 TLV
He came as a mere human, and as a man, he was victorious through suffering and testing. It is Yeshua’s human obedience that achieved salvation for mankind. His exaltation was the result of his human obedience, not because he was privileged being the Son of God. He took off all privileges and became a mere man. Overcoming all the tests and hurdles of life, all the way to death, brought about his exaltation.
“For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue profess that Yeshua the Messiah is Lord—to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 TLV
He wants you and me to become like Him, and through our obedience unto life and death, we will bring His redemption to mankind. He purchased redemption with His blood life. We are to distribute this great gift with our blood life. We do so as we obey the commands of His calling upon our lives, step by step, one day at a time, one person at a time. One mission at a time. All the way to the end. Then we will be exalted together with Yeshua.
“For it was fitting for God—for whom and through whom all things exist—in leading many sons to glory, to perfect through sufferings the initiator of their salvation.” Hebrews 2:10 TLV
His obedience brought us forth, and our obedience will bring others forth. Do not ever underestimate what Yah can achieve through only One human. Just concentrate on being that one person that He can find. History is always changed by one person that chose to say YES even when difficult.
“For the eyes of Adonai range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are wholly His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a TLV
He will strengthen you like He strengthened Yeshua in the Garden Gethsemane.
“Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. And in His anguish, He was praying fervently, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling down on the ground.” Luke 22:43-44 TLV
Angels are always sent to strengthen us when we are willing to say YES to the end. When we become obedient in life and death, entire nations can be spared. It is a real mystery, but Yah needs only one obedient person to avert judgment. He needs one man or one woman who will not give Him excuses why they cannot obey His calling.
“I searched for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand in the breach before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:30 TLV
