Torah Portion TERUMAH – Shemot (Exodus) 25:1- 27:19 Haftarah: 2 Kings 11:17- 12:17
“They were offering Him wine mixed with myrrh, but He didn’t take it.” Mark 15:23 TLV
Shabbat shalom, dearly beloved,
So often we read a passage of scripture, even many times, yet we do not get the heart of it. I have read the above scripture hundreds of times, but suddenly, I saw it.
He refused to take the wine mixed with myrrh because it was a numbing medication. They gave this concoction on death row to numb the excruciating pain of this type of execution. Yeshua wanted all of his senses with him in these last moments. He did not want to be medicated and lose connection with His Abba. It reminds me of when I was birthing my children and an epidural injection was offered so I would not feel the pain of the contractions and the birthing. I also refused as I wanted to feel this amazing moment of bringing forth life, even if it hurt. I wanted to be in control of my body, and I would let no medication steal it from me. I know this does not make sense in this overly medicated, overly numbed generation. However, for me, I prefer my freedom over my mind and body to numbing from pain. Yeshua preferred His freedom to think and feel. This was the moment of Him birthing a new nation, a new people for the glory of Yah. He also trusted in the grace of His Father for these difficult moments, the fulfillment of His life mission. When one is numb and not in control, one could end up sinning. Yeshua would take no chances. He had to keep His promise to His Abba and finish as a sinless Lamb.
“And they are singing a new song, saying, ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals. For You were slain, and by Your blood, You redeemed for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” The Revelation 5:9 TLV

However, there was an additional reason why He refused the wine mixed with myrrh. He had made a promise to His disciples on Passover when taking the Cup of Redemption that He would not drink again until a specific time.
“For I tell you that I will never drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” Luke 22:18 TLV
Promises are promises, and He would not break His word, not even under the temptation of numbing His pain. We are called to do the same if we are to enjoy the Holy of Holiest of His Presence.
“A psalm of David. Adonai, who may dwell in Your tent? Who may live on Your holy mountain? The one who walks with integrity, who does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart, who despises a vile person in his eyes but honors those who fear Adonai, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, and does not change,” Psalms 15:1-2, 4 TLV

Yeshua kept His oath not to touch wine until His Kingdom would come. I think that when He returns to Yerushalayim, His Holy City and People, He will do a great LECHAYIM (to life or cheers) with the superb wines from the vineyards of Shomron (Samaria).
“Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria—planters will plant and use them. For there will be a day when watchmen will call out in the hill country of Ephraim, ‘Arise, let us go up to Zion, to Adonai our God.’” Jeremiah 31:4-5 TLV
We are called to walk like He walked.
“Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2:6 TLV
We must keep our word even if it hurts us. A broken promise is like a broken tooth and a foot out of joint. It makes us unreliable.
“Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is confidence in the unfaithful in time of trouble.” Proverbs 25:19 TLV
Yeshua, just like His Father in Heaven, was trustworthy even when hurting. Do we keep our word when it is painful to do so? Or do we keep it when it’s convenient? Can He trust us to stay faithful even when we are suffering?
“But Yeshua said to him, ‘No one who has put his hand to the plow and looked back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 TLV

He has called us to be Promise Keepers in all circumstances. Above all, our YES to Him must remain a YES at all times and in all circumstances. And our NO to sin, the devil, temptation, disobedience, and betrayal must remain a NO at all times and in all circumstances. Moreover, when we give our word to another human being, even if it is a debt to a bank or a company, we must keep it. We are called to be like Him, trustworthy and reliable even if it hurts us.
“But above all, my dear brothers and sisters, do not swear—either by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath. But let your “yes” be “yes,” and your “no” be “no”—so that you may not fall under judgment.” Jacob (James) 5:12 TLV
To be like Him is to be faithful unto death, so just like Him we can receive the crown of (eternal) life.
“Happy is the one who endures testing, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love Him.” Jacob (James) 1:12 TLV
We will all go through hardship and testing. When we stay faithful and keep our word, our lives will be on target, unmovable and unshakable, just like His was until the last moment.
“For this reason, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue profess that Yeshua the Messiah is Lord—to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 TLV

Study at GRM Israeli Bible Institute
You’ll never need to take another Bible School again. GRM Bible Institute is a washing machine that leads you to the 1st century truth. You will discover the original Gospel made in Zion that has set many free.
Testimonies from the students:
I was second in command for a nationwide gang, but with the help of YHVH and GRM Bible School, I have begun to denounce that, after 21 years of membership. The enemy has been attacking me because of it. He knows he is losing a warrior, but I fight a different war for a different Master now. – J.M.
I used to be confused and uncomfortable because I didn’t know what to believe. There are so many different doctrines, all going against each other and teaching different things. I now understand the Gospel better and know my faith’s roots. – E.P
I have been wrong all my life, but now I understand what God wants from me! – R.D.
