Festival Portion PESACH – Vayikra (Leviticus) 22:26-23:44 Haftarah: 2 Kings 23:1-9
“Thus every grain offering of a kohen is to be a whole-offering—it shall not be eaten.” Leviticus 6:16 TLV
Shabbat shalom, dearly beloved!
To understand what it means to be a Royal Priesthood and a Holy Nation, we must go to the Torah. Many people repeat and even sing the verse below but do not walk it.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 TLV
Notice the word “possession” here. A priestly and holy people do not belong to themselves. Hence, the problem with many: they still belong to themselves, they make their own decisions, eat what they wish, wear what they like, spend on whatever they desire, eat what they crave, and chart their own course. The Torah tells us that an offering given by a Kohen (Priest) to Yah must be a burnt offering and not to be eaten. None of it belongs to the Kohen.
Thus, every grain offering of a kohen is to be a whole offering—it shall not be eaten.” Leviticus 6:16 TLV
In the New Covenant, Yeshua takes us into a deeper place in our relationship with Yah and our priestly service. He admonishes us through Shaul/Paul, the Jewish apostle to the gentiles, to become a living sacrifice.
“I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy, acceptable to God—which is your spiritual service.” Romans 12:1 TLV
I like how the Amplified Bible expounds on this.
“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.” Romans 12:1 AMP
Being a Living Sacrifice, not belonging to ourselves, is not outstanding; it’s just reasonable, logical, and intelligent.
Many tend to forget that Yeshua purchased us with His blood. He did not cover our sins; He bought us to make us into a sacrificial priesthood pleasing unto His Father.
“For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:20 TLV
This price is priceless; it is His own blood. He made us holy by giving us a blood transfusion, not a blood covering. Hence, we are a Royal Priesthood, we carry His Royal Blood in our veins.
“You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with precious blood like that of a lamb without defect or spot, the blood of Messiah.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 TLV
We need to walk carefully, endeavoring to walk in step with Him, giving Him glory in our bodies, attitudes, words, actions, and thoughts, and yes, even our money and possessions.
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21 TLV
Ask yourself: Does Yah have FULL access to ALL that I have and to ALL that I am? If you answer YES, you will have great shalom. If you answer no, you need to repent, and the time is late.
“Loved ones, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.” 1 John 3:21-22 TLV
Many believers in Messiah live in constant guilt. What is the reason for that? If you suffer from guilt, your heart condemns you, and you are probably guilty. You could be guilty of unbelief, compromise, bitterness, ungodly attitudes, and holding yourself back from Yah. It does not have to be flagrant immorality or blatant idolatry; it can be something as small as overeating, lying to yourself, delaying your obedience, breaking your vows and promises, rejecting truth because it’s uncomfortable, nursing a grudge, and so forth. The Word warns us not to overlook the “little thieves” of our relationship with our bridegroom. It calls it The Little Foxes.
“Catch the foxes for us— the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.” Song of Songs 2:15 TLV
We need to catch those little thieves that cause us to hold back from giving Abba what He bought at such a great price, the Royal Blood of His son.
“Now may the God of shalom Himself make you completely holy; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept complete, blameless at the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 TLV
Pray and seek Him in all things so He can have access to all of you. Do not hold anything back from Yah. Always remember: I do not belong to myself, and you do not belong to yourself. We are a purchased possession, and He is jealous over us.
“Or do you think that in vain the Scripture says, ‘He yearns jealously over the spirit which He made to dwell in us’?” Jacob (James) 4:5 TLV
His Ruach has been given to us so we can walk as His possession all the days of our lives. That is true grace! We have been empowered to walk like He walked, a Royal Priesthood never to be ashamed because we walk transparently and purely before Him. We do not hide from Him or hold anything back from Him. He is our one-stop “shop” for everything.
“for ‘In Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring’.” Acts 17:28 TLV
