The importance of Preparation

Torah Portion NASSO – Bamidbar (Numbers) 4:21-7:89 Haftarah: Judges 13:2-25
Shabbat shalom, dearly beloved,
Yeshua was revealed to His Jewish disciples as the Passover Lamb that takes away the sins, and then as the Anointed, glorified Messiah King at His resurrection at the Feast of Firstfruits during Passover. He manifested His Kingdom in Shavuot with the landing of the Holy Spirit with a visible sign of tongues of fire.
How do we move from revelation to manifestation?
Preparation is everything. The disciples of Yeshua waited in preparation in the upper room to receive something extraordinary. They did not know what it was. Other servants of YHVH also went through extensive times of preparation.
- Moses prepared for 40 years.
- Joshua prepared for 40 years.
- Yoseph prepared for 14 years.
- David prepared for 15 years.
- Yeshua prepared for 2000 years to come after the promise given to Abraham.
- Paul was prepared for 3 years in the desert of Arabia.
- Yeshua has been preparing for 2000 years since He left.
Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you, for I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to Myself, so that where I am, you may be also.” John 14:1–3 TLV

Before Shavuot, Yeshua told his disciples to prepare to receive the Promise of the Father. He did not say how long it would take. He just said, position yourselves in Jerusalem, then wait there in preparation to receive.
To them, He showed Himself to be alive after His suffering through many convincing proofs, appearing to them for forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. Now while staying with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for what the Father promised, which, He said, “you heard from Me.” For John immersed with water, but you will be immersed in the Ruach ha-Kodesh not many days from now.” But you will receive power when the Ruach ha-Kodesh has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and through all Judah, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” After saying all this—while they were watching—He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” Acts 1:3-5, 8-9 TLV
He had to prepare Israel through the Torah and the Moadim (Holy Feasts). Yeshua came to a people that have been set apart and prepared. Nothing of value is done at random without preparation.
“Then you are to count from the morrow after the Shabbat, from the day that you brought the omer of the wave offering, seven complete Shabbatot. Until the morrow after the seventh Shabbat, you are to count fifty days and then present a new grain offering to Adonai. You are to bring out of your houses two loaves of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour. They are to be baked with hametz as firstfruits to Adonai.” Leviticus 23:15-17 TLV
- Shavuot came exactly 50 days after the resurrection of Yeshua on the Feast of First Fruits of the barley harvest.
- For 40 days, the risen Messiah revealed the Kingdom to his disciples.
- For 10 days they waited after He ascended to Heaven, and another Feast of First Fruits came, this time of the wheat harvest.
- The Holy Spirit fell to empower and establish the community of believers. In fact, He said to do nothing before the Ruach would come.
1 Corinthians 15:20 calls Messiah:
“Messiah has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
Thus, Yeshua’s resurrection is prophetically connected to the barley Firstfruits offering—the beginning of the greater harvest to come. The barley harvest itself was the earliest grain harvest in Israel, usually beginning in the spring around March–April (Hebrew month of Nisan). Wheat harvest followed later, culminating at Shavuot.
“When the day of Shavuot had come, they were all together in one place. Suddenly, there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues like fire spreading out appeared to them and settled on each one of them. They were all filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh and began to speak in other tongues as the Ruach enabled them to speak out.” Acts 2:1-4 TLV
Should we compromise on His presence?
But then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with me, don’t let us go up from here!” For how would it be known that Your people or I have found favor in Your sight? Isn’t it because You go with us that distinguishes us from all the people on the face of the earth? Adonai answered Moses, “I will also do what you have said, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.” Exodus 33:15-17 TLV
Moses did not compromise, but it took 40 more years until Yah had a new generation ready to enter the Promised Land. A whole unbelieving and bound up generation had to die first. Had Moses compromised the Presence and chosen to go in with an angel instead, they may have been there earlier. The good is the enemy of the perfect, and Moses chose the perfect, and it was costly. What do we choose: the shortcuts, the convenient or the Glory?
What precedes the moves of Yah?
Preparation, sanctification, positioning, waiting, and unity precede divine visitation and outpouring.
From the giving of the Torah at Sinai to the outpouring of the Ruach HaKodesh in Jerusalem, Scripture shows that Yah prepares a people before He entrusts them with His glory, revelation, and power.
At Mount Sinai, Israel was told to “Be ready for the third day… consecrate yourselves.”
“Adonai said to Moses, ‘Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow. Let them wash their clothing. Be ready for the third day. For on the third day Adonai will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.” Exodus 19:10-11 TLV

Before crossing the Jordan, Joshua declared:
“Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow Adonai will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5 TLV
After the resurrection, Yeshua spent 40 days revealing Himself, teaching, opening understanding, and preparing His disciples concerning the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). Then came the final 10 days of waiting in Yerushalayim, in prayer and unity, until Shavuot was fully come.
Thus, at Sinai came the Torah, and in Jerusalem came the Ruach.
Shavuot unites:
- Torah and Spirit
- Word and Power
- Instruction and Empowerment
- Israel and the Nations
The two leavened loaves offered during Shavuot
Unlike unleavened Passover bread, these loaves contain leaven, yet they are accepted before Yah as first fruits (Leviticus 23:17). This is a prophetic picture of Jew and Gentile, two groups made one. While both were still imperfect in themselves, yet they were accepted by Yah through the blood of Messiah.
As Paul later wrote:
“For He is our shalom, the One who made the two into one and broke down the middle wall of separation.” Ephesians 2:14

The Book of Ruth, when Jewish Naomi and Gentile Ruth unite under the same Elohim, ending in the marriage of Ruth the Moabite with Boaz from Judah, is read in Shavuot. This union brought forth the House of David, and eventually the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua, also named Ben David.
And it is no coincidence that the Ruach was poured out in Jerusalem upon Jews from many nations gathered for Shavuot (Acts 2), becoming the first fruits of a worldwide harvest.
Preparation and Positioning Precedes Outpouring
The disciples could not manufacture Pentecost/Shavuot. They could only prepare and position themselves for it.
They waited.
They prayed.
They obeyed.
They remained united.
They stayed where Yeshua told them to stay.
And suddenly,
“When the day of Shavuot had come, they were all together in one place…” Acts 2:1 TLV
The outpouring came upon a prepared people.
And perhaps most beautifully, both the giving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai and the Acts 2 outpouring of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) happened in the context of a gathered community; not isolated individuals, but a people in unity before Yah.
Psalm 133 becomes connected to Shavuot:
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity… For there Adonai commanded the blessing—life forevermore!” Psalm 133: TLV

When there is harmony among us, like when a symphonic orchestra plays music together, though different instruments, then it is pleasant.
United harmony of different people and instruments, yet playing the same melody in YACHAD, in the same purpose and vision, became the atmosphere for outpouring.
When there is jealousy, rivalry, self-seeking, bitterness, religiosity, self-righteousness (thinking we are better than others), and pride, there will be disharmony, and that kills revivals. Ruach HaKodesh is a great conductor if we let him. To let the Ruach conduct, we need to prepare pure hearts, surrendered hearts.
We are being prepared for a mighty outpouring, the Third Day (Millennium) Revival. Let us all be found in unity with Yeshua and with each other as we prepare and wait for it in faith, hope, and obedience.
“When the day of Shavuot had come, they were all together in one place…” Acts 2:1 TLV
May we all be together in one place – not only physically but spiritually – so the “suddenly” can happen again.
And let us never stop preparing and remain willing to the end.

Testimonies from the students:
I was second in command for a nationwide gang, but with the help of YHVH and GRM Bible School, I have begun to denounce that, after 21 years of membership. The enemy has been attacking me because of it. He knows he is losing a warrior, but I fight a different war for a different Master now. – J.M.
I used to be confused and uncomfortable because I didn’t know what to believe. There are so many different doctrines, all going against each other and teaching different things. I now understand the Gospel better and know my faith’s roots. – E.P
I have been wrong all my life, but now I understand what God wants from me! – R.D.
